Is the course suitable for any ability?
Yes! Although we would receommend a basic level of fitness.
Mudskipper Challenge has been designed to work your entire body. Its meant to be fun but a bit intimidating. The beauty of our course is that it is shorter (2.5km) than a 'normal' organised event which means you can go round just once or multimple times, should you wish, during your visit.
We have no penalties for not completing an obstacle. You do whatever you like with zero judgement. Our main is for you to have fun whilst energising your body and mind.
What does my entry fee include?
You will receive entry into the 2.5km course within an allocated wave, finishers t'shirt, well earned drink, free photographs (if caught by one of our photographers), free valuables drop and free car parking.
There is a significant amount of work that goes into onrganiseing a Mudskipper Challenge and ensuring that you have a great experience, all of which is covered by your entrance fee. This includes, but not limited to medical support, event insurance, event staff, risk assessment, construction of obstacles and course, water, t-shirts, refuse management, land rent, licensing, signage, marquee hire, sound system hire, toilet hire and post event clean up.
Is this a team event?
We encourage anyone who wishes to particpate to do so whether you are decide to run solo, as a couple or as part of a team. Either which way you will be supported along the way by our fantastic vounteers, so there will be no shortage of cheers and muddy hugs.
How do I register to take part?
Simply go to the event page that you wish to take part in on our website and hit the 'ENTER NOW' button. You will be directed to the booking page which will guide you through the process.
Our event ticketing partners are Citizen Ticket (the pioneers of blcokchain ticketing) making it super secure and easy for you as well as having a feel good factor with a donation of every ticket sold going towards planting trees.
Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?
We want as many people running the course as possible, so if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of not being able to participate, you can transfer your entry to someone else.
Because we use Citizen Ticket and their revolutionary BitTicket, it is super simple to transfer your entry. We will be notified by Citizen Ticket to ensure ultimate safety on the day knowing who is on our course.
Do I need to sign a waiver to enter?
All participants for every event will be required to sign a waiver by which you acknowledge that you will be taking part in a potentially dangerous event with a risk of personal injury. Waivers will be available to read and acknowledge prior to entering and will also be available on the day prior to receiving your entry pack.
Do I need to be able to swim to take part?
You will cross the river (several times) but you will never be more than waist height. Just ask the marshals or your fellow runners for assistance.
Is there an age limit?
Entrants have to be 18 or older on the day of the event to participate. Those aged 8-17 can participate with an accomanying adult (aged 18 or over). There is no upper age limit.
If you are fortunate to look under 25 you will be required to provide photo ID to confirm you are 18 or over.
For ages 3-7 there is Mudskipper Tiddlers taking part at the same time.
I have entered as a solo runner but now I want to join a team.
Sure, no problem - if there is space left within the team wave.
Please email email@example.com and let us know the wave time you would like to join.
Can I enter a team?
We would LOVE that! And you get a discount for entering four or more individual adult runners at one time.
Simply use the TEAM FORM on the event page, enter your email address and the number of team members you would like to enter and we'll email you with your unique basket with at Citizen Ticket to complete the booking.
All we ask it that you make sure you have the permission of ALL team members before entering. They mus understand that you will be acknowledging the terms and conditions on their behalf. All team members must sign a waiver during registration.
Can I just show up?
Unfortunately not if you wish to participate. Your safety is paramount and we need to know who is on the course at all times.
Whilst we figure out the ideal way to create the best possible experience every time you visit, we would like to know exactly who will be coming and when. We hope to open the course to 'on-the-day' adverturers very shortly in the future. Please keep updated through our Facebook and Instagram pages for notifications.
Can I bring my children?
The course is designed for those aged 8 and over (participants 8-16 year olds MUST be accompanied by a particiating adult aged 18+ who can sign the waiver on the child's behalf).
There is also a course especially for those aged 3-7. Children must have an adult present who should walk (or run!) alongside their child. Waivers are required to be signed by their accompanying adult prior to participation.
Is there somewhere to leave my stuff?
Yes, however we encourage you to leave as much as you can in your locked car to keep it as secure as possible since the car park is only a short distance from the event village.
There will be a Key Drop where you can leave your car key while you are running. If you do not have access to a car, our Key Drop can also take a very limited number of bags.
Keys and bags will only be returned to those with matching race number so please bear this in mind if you are in a group not expected to finish at the same time.
Please note that Mudskipper Challenge (and their volunteers) cannot accept responsibility for any personal items left with us. We also take no responsibility for vehicles and belongings in the car park.
Can I wear fancy dress?
Yes! In fact we encourage you to have as much fun as possible and if this means you wear your best tutu, then we are all for it.
However, please make sure any costumes worn are sensible and will not get in the way of you safely completing the run. Capes, tails and inflatables are not recommended.
Will my run be timed?
Mudskipper Challenge is all about having fun, doing things at your own pace and making it as difficult as you want it to be. We want you to help your fellow runners, stop for 'wow, we did it' hugs and appreciate the situations you find yourself in, whether it be waist deep in a mud pit, or at the top of the hill looking out at our spectacular setting.
For those who are competitive, we recommend timing yourselves - please make sure your watches are water/shock proof!
Will there be medical help?
Medical support teams will be on site and marshals will be situated all around the course.
Our team of qualified and mud run experienced first aiders, along with the Mudskipper Challenge team, have worked hard on injury prevention when designing our courses and we have implemented all feedback from our risk assessors.
Should you become injured or ill, we will get you to a first aid station as quickly as possible. You must notify us before you take part if you have a pre-existing injury or condition that we should be aware of.
Is there parking?
Yes (and its free) but it will be limited. Please car share where possible.
Please follow the parking marshal’s directions on arrival. Also note that there will probably be some congestion at times. Please be patient and our marshals will get you in/out as fast as possible!
Where do I go when I arrive?
You need to register and collect your runners pack at the registration tent - this will be close to the parking area and clearly signed.
We recommend you arrive at least an hour before your start time to give yourself time to register, change, attach your wristbands, re-tie your shoes, use the facilities and generally get yourself ready! You will be called to your safety briefing and warm up session 15 minutes prior to your start time.
Will there be food and drinks available?
We will have a small selection of local food and drinks vendors within the event village for you to purchase.
Can I bring spectators?
Spectators are more than welcome, just please note that they enter event village at their own risk and under no circumstances should they attempt to take part in the course or any of the obstacles. Persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. By attending the site of the run, whether participating or not, they are deemed to be accepting the run’s terms and conditions.
Due to limited car parking space, we encourage spectators to come in the same car as entrants.
Can we bring dogs?
Yes - please do, but your furry friends MUST STRICTLY stay on a lead at all times. We are very much animal lovers, but the event is located on a farm with livestock close-by, we would appreciate if you could bear this in mind.
Please also remember to clean up after your dogs. There will be plenty of bins around the village.
What should I wear?
This depends on the weather!
Basic advice is that you will get wet, muddy and may get cold, so wear warm, light running clothing and good running shoes with good grip but without spikes - some areas are too hard/stony for them, and they are dangerous for other competitors on the obstacles.
Gloves can also be a good idea. If it’s sunny weather, bring sunscreen and a hat - we really don’t recommend sunglasses as you’ll probably lose them.
Also - bring warm clothing to change into after the event and a towel!
Will the event be cancelled due to bad weather?
Mudskipper Challenge will not be cancelled unless it is dangerous to allow runners onto the course. We do not cancel the event because of rain, cold, snow etc. We run in all conditions as long as it’s safe!
Does my child just go round once on the Mudskipper Tiddler course?
For some of the littler ones, this might be all that they are up for.
We encourage the kids to do as much as they want, as many times as they want, within their allocated time slot. Please note that children will only be presented with one finishers t'shirt when they decide they have had enough. Once off the course, they will not be allowed to re-enter. Please ensure all children visit the toilet before their session.
Sessions run on the hour, every hour throughout the day. Sessions must be pre-booked. There will be no 'pay-on-the-day' spaces available.
Sessions are 50 minutes long to allow for a quick safety briefing at the start and to ensure the course is clear in plenty of time for the next session to run on time. Please make your way off the course when requested by a Marshal.
Can I volunteer?
If you want to be part of the fun but would prefer to help others conquer the course, then we would love for you to be part our team to ensure that Mudskipper Challenge is the ultimate in muddy good fun!
It is important to us to have great people motivate the runners and we want to reward you for that. We will give you one FREE ENTRY for a friend or family member, free parking, lunch and water, safety brief, free t'shirt and an amazing day out.
From the participants arrival on site, to motivation on the start line, all the way along the course and congratulating finishers across the line, encouragement, assistance and muddy hugs go a long way and make a real difference to ensuring that everyone has the most EXCITING day.
To volunteer contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Can I just come along and watch?
Absolutely! The event village will be a party in itself with food, drink and banging tunes. There will be plenty of space for picnic blankets, dancing and your very own workout (should the urge take you) and any support to runners would be greatly welcomed.
Please note that you enter the event village at your own risk and under no circumstances should you attempt to take part in the course or any of the obstacles. Persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. By attending the site of the run, whether participating or not, you are deemed to be accepting the run’s terms and conditions.
